GENERAL NEWS: 5 Things to Do

Hello dear friends and colleagues,

We are working! and working! and working! As well as spring being the time with all things green and yellow and painted colors, when you really can't remember how hot is was last summer; spring is also the busiest time of year in education. Graduation is May 11 and there are many bridges to build before then!

Along with all this great weather, we have a bunch of wonderful SLIS events coming up. Mark your calendars and try to join us for:

* “Remember When*Pro-Sem” will take place this Thursday, April 5 from 5pm to 7pm in Davis College. This event will celebrate the students and faculty that attended our school during the Professional Seminar years, 1981 and earlier.

* April 13 Friday Spring Fling Party at Dr. Sam's house. Friday, April 13 at 6:00 PM.

* I-Comm Week 2007, April 16 - 20. I-Comm Week is the college’s opportunity to shine a spotlight on each
of the disciplines in the college's SJMC and SLIS with speakers, workshops, and events for students, alumni and friends. The Dean's Lecture will feature Ken Heycock and is scheduled for Thursday evening April 19. More details to come.

Check out our two new courses that you may be interested in: J797S: Opensource Software is offered Summer II session and J797x: Web 2.0 Technologies and Libraries is scheduled for fall. We have other great courses but so many of you have requested more technology courses that I wanted you to know that I listened.

Here are your 5 things to do, read or think about for this week:

In closing, keep up the great work, enjoy the spring, feed the birds and hug a librarian!
